The Chief Medical Director of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (AEFUTHA), Professor Robinson Chukwudi Onoh on behalf of the management and entire staff has expressed profound gratitude to the Federal Government of Nigeria, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the approval of a 50% subsidy on electricity tariff for all federal tertiary health institutions across the country.
The subsidy will have a substantial positive impact on the hospital’s overall operations and performance. This remarkable gesture by the Federal Government has demonstrated her strong commitment in addressing the challenges faced by Nigerians as a result of high cost of healthcare services.
For Chief Medical Directors and Medical Directors of tertiary health institutions in Nigeria, the subsidy will assist in assuaging the high cost of electricity, ensuring the availability of electricity in our hospitals, and enabling hospitals to allocate more resources towards patient care and other essentials services.
In AEFUTHA, the subsidy will enhance the efficiency of both clinical and non-clinical operations within the hospital which will culminate into better healthcare service delivery with improved outcomes. AEFUTHA assures His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that we remain committed to the actualization of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the vision to improve healthcare delivery services across the nation.
Congratulations to our indefatigable, hardworking and committed Honourable Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate and Minister of Health for State, Dr. Tunji Alausa for this very great stride achieved. Truly, history is made and documented in the annals of time.
